Last year my dear friend introduced me 

to one of her favourite clothing brands, Wheat Canada.

After browsing their website I fell in love.

Their simple yet whimsical style is exactly what I love.

Their colours are soft and have a feminine touch.
The boys clothes are simple yet boyish in a very sweet way.

Their design is impeccable.

But would they hold up to being worn for play?

Sure they look cute, but will my preschooler who insists on wearing dress up clothes,

actually choose to wear these clothes too? 

Could we actually agree on the same clothes suitable to be in public?

It seemed too good to be true.

After placing my first order I

waited patiently for my package to arrive.

I was so excited to pour over its contents.

I had chosen matching Powder Tulle skirts for the girls,

matching Aretha dresses,

some basic long sleeve tees for Claire,

among other things for both the girls.

The colours were beautiful.

Now for the test of my preschooler.

After 3 months I am so pleased 

that she wears her Wheat clothes all the time!

The skirts are always the first things she pulls out of her drawer

paired with one of the basic tees.

She is a girly girl that loves to play rough

and the clothes meet both of her needs.

She can be rough and tumble in a skirt or a dress

and we haven't needed to make any repairs.

Some of my personal favourites are the basic tees 

and cardigans for everyday wear. 

The skirts and dresses are sweet as well.

Their sun hats give good coverage and look absolutely darling.

They also do surprise bundles! 

That was a super fun shop.

All I did was send them my girls' sizes and their gender

and whether I wanted the $50 bundle or the $100 bundle

and they put together items for us out of their Spring/Summer collection.

At the beginning of March we had amazing weather.

It was around 13-17 degrees and we were outside constantly. 

One Saturday after Spencer was done work

we packed a picnic and went to explore a new adventure park near us.

Claire had chosen to wear her Wheat Clothing, so I put on Jane's Wheat Sun Hat and t shirt

and brought my camera along for some fun photos.

They turned out so great.

Claire played so hard and although she got dirty,

the clothes weren't damaged at all.

Book Review and Giveaway: Praying Circles Around Your Children **WINNER ANNOUNCED**

Upon recommendations from a couple of people

I ordered myself a copy of 

Praying Circles Around Your Children

by Mark Batterson.

This book has 103 pages and you can read it in one afternoon.

It is full of good advice,

powerful scripture and the importance of prayer

 for our children.

He talks specifically about 

praying scriptures tailoured to your specific child,

praying Truth and God's promises over them throughout life.

One of my favourite ideas 

was a prayer journal Mark and his wife had for each of his kids.

For both my babies as soon as we found out

we were pregnant I bought a journal

and wrote in it.

For Claire I stopped at her first birthday.

It was filled with my thoughts about my pregnancy,

my journey of them growing inside me and their first year.

In it I confessed my fears of shortcomings, of parenthood,

of the excitement and wonder and it also included many prayers over them.

I think I will dig Claire's journal out again

 and continue to fill it with the prayers I have for her,

and document how they've been answered, throughout her life.

Perhaps when my kids leave home, or become parents themselves,

I will pass it on to them and they can see how their mom and dad prayed over them.
Jane has one too but I won't be stopping on her first birthday.

The other piece Spencer and I 

adopted into our family

is the idea of picking scriptures to pray over our girls.

It was so easy to come up with several for Claire.

I won't share them all here, I feel like it is too personal.

Her name means light, bright or illuminate. 

We have discussed on several occasions how

her name meaning has carried into her personality.

She brings light wherever she goes with her infectious personality.

Everyone who meets her comments on her larger than life persona.

We have been praying since she was a baby that she would be a light.

Naturally the verse that came to mind is about being a light on a hill.

Before we gathered verses we prayed over and about our girls.

Their unique personalities and what God wants us to pray over them.

If you are like me,

you have a stack of parenting books on your nightstand.

The last thing you need is another one to add to the tower.

But trust me when I say you need to read this!

You can finish it quickly and start praying circles around your kids.

In Review: Buttons Diapers

When we had our first baby

we decided to use cloth diapers for a variety of reasons.

After much consideration,

being overwhelmed with options,

we went with gDiapers.

Mainly because they made sense to me and 

they were manufactured in Portland where we were living at the time.

Since then I have been on the gDiaper bandwagon

and wouldn't be swayed off of it.

Soon my shopping cart was stocked with some essentials.

Once they arrived in the mail I immediately 

through them in the wash to start using them.

The are easy to soak, wash and dry.

Low maintenance, my kinda laundry.

My youngest is the only one in diapers

and she seemed pleased.

She didn't even soak through during her two hour nap.

The size is one fits all without being big and bulky.

She can still wear the right sized clothes over top.

One of the bonuses about using cloth diapers 

is that babies don't get diaper rash,

and these soft inserts are perfect for protecting

their adorable tushy. 

All it took was 5 minutes to sell me on the product.

For a mom buying essentials for her precious baby,

I think that says enough.
